Wallaman Falls
Wallaman Falls is surrounded by World Heritage rainforest and is located in the Girringun National Park.
It is Australia's highest permanent single-drop waterfall, created when the water from Stony Creek plunges 268 metres over the edge in a clear single-drop. You will often see a rainbow formed in the misty spray towards the bottom of the falls.
There is a large viewing platform just a few steps from the carpark, so it is very easy to see and photograph this wonderful waterfall. Alternatively, you can access the base of the falls along the Djyinda walk (pronounced 'Yin-da' and meaning falls).
This hike starts near the lookout and descends a narrow rocky path; it is 3.2 kilometres return.
The track wanders through the open forest, along the escarpment overlooking the Herbert River Valley, into the gorge and through the thick rainforest.
