The Museum of Tropical Queensland is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. It showcases natural and cultural history, with exhibits ranging from historic dinosaurs and ancient marine life to shipwrecks, the Great Barrier Reef and Tropical Rainforests. Kissing Point is a beautiful and historic location on the headland of the Strand. It has several historic landmarks, including the Kissing Point Fort, which was built in the late 1800s and played an important role in defending the city during World War II. It has several lookouts with stunning views over The Strand and Magnetic Island.
Hervey Range Tea Rooms
Drive to the top of Hervey's Range and enjoy morning tea or lunch at the Heritage Tea Rooms. This is North Queensland’s oldest heritage-listed building and was originally the Eureka Hotel, built in 1865. There is also a short walk around the property where you may see some local wildlife and birds.
