The Pinnacle ~ The Grampians
The Pinnacle Lookout is located in The Grampians National Park. The iconic walk to The Pinnacle lookout rewards you with fantastic views over Halls Gap, Lake Bellfield and the Grampians mountain ranges.
The Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park is 260 kilometres west of Melbourne and has fantastic hiking trails, beautiful waterfalls, superb lookouts and a large variety of birds and wildlife.
The Grampians are five stunning sandstone ridges that run north to south. On the eastern side, they have steep and rugged slopes, while on the west side, they have gentler slopes.
The Walk - 4.2 kilometres - 2 Hours - Medium/Hard
We start from the Wonderland Carpark and follow the signs from the north side of the carpark to the start of The Pinnacle Walk. We wander across the bridge and start walking along the uphill track.
Note:
We did this walk in August 2022, and the loop through the Grand Canyon was not accessible as a steel staircase located at the exit of the Grand Canyon was closed due to an engineering issue. So we did The Pinnacle walk on the canyon bypass walking track, where you still see Bridal Veil Falls and Silent Street.
Continue on the uphill track past incredible rock formations and over rocky ledges. Look for the yellow triangle markers to ensure you are still heading in the right direction. After walking for 1.4 kilometres, you will see the beautiful Bridal Veil Falls, a small seasonal waterfall flowing into a shallow pool on the edge of the track.
Then, continue upwards for another 300 metres across the rocky exposed ground, and you will reach Silent Street. Take the stairs down the narrow crevasse and wander along the rocky path through this fantastic, tall, narrow gorge. Climb the steps at the end and continue up the rocky slopes until you reach The Pinnacle Lookout.
