Silver Falls ~ Mount Wellington

Silver falls on Mount Wellington is a lovely small waterfall of about 4 metres in height. The water flows down the Browns River and cascades over the rocky ledge at Silver Falls before meandering further down the river.

There are several tracks to Silver Falls; we parked near the Fern Tree Tavern, followed the Pipeline Track for approximately 1 kilometre, and then turned onto the Silver Falls track near the Fern Tree Bower.

It is a lovely walk along the river, shaded by lush eucalypts and ferns. The last section is a little steep, but it's not far from Silver Falls.

Directions to Mount Wellington

From Hobart, head south-east on Murray St towards Bidencopes Lane, then use the right three lanes to turn right onto Davey Street (A6) and continue for 1.3 kilometres. Continue straight onto Davey Street (B64) for a further 7.2 kilometres. Turn sharp right onto Pillinger Drive (C616) and continue along this road for 8.1 kilometres until you reach Mount Wellington.
