Seven Mile Beach - Tasmania
Seven Mile Beach is the closest surfing beach near Hobart. It is located 15 kilometres east of the city on the northern shores of Frederick Henry Bay.
This beautiful 10.3-kilometre (7-mile) beach is popular for swimming, surfing, family picnics, walking, jogging, and other water activities. There are several day-use areas with toilets and picnic facilities.
Swimming - the western end of Seven Mile Beach and its day-use areas are very popular in summer. They provide good beach access to a low-hazard beach with normal low waves. A bigger swell can, however, induce rips across the bar.
Surfing: Seven Mile Beach usually has low, spilling beach breaks. Big south swells produce a right-hand break along the point. It's a bit of a walk to the break, but it is very popular when working.
