SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast

Located near The Wharf at Mooloolaba, SEA LIFE is open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with extended hours during Queensland school holidays. The highlights of our recent visit include the Ocean Tunnel, Seahorse Kingdom, the Little Blue Penguins, the Coastal Wreck Exhibit, Seal Island, the Tidal Touch Pool, and Jellyfish Kingdom.

The Ocean Tunnel is an 80-metre-long passageway that offers an immersive experience with sea creatures all around you. As you stroll through the three distinct zones, you will encounter sharks, rays, and a colourful array of reef fish.

In the Shark Shipwreck section of the Ocean Tunnel, there are eight species of sharks, including Grey Nurse and Grey Reef Sharks, as well as some huge stingrays.

They are all fascinating to watch as they glide gracefully through the water and over the top of the tunnel. If you look carefully, you will also see a sea turtle in this section.

In the Coral Kingdom section, you will see colourful reef fish darting amongst the coral formations. And if you’re lucky, you will see the divers in scuba gear feeding the fish. In the Bay of Rays section, you will see Smooth Stingrays and Cownose Rays gracefully gliding through the water and alongside you in the tunnel.

The Seahorse Kingdom has over 100 seahorses and seadragons on display in several different tanks. It's easy to see their fascinating and intricate behaviours. This Atlantis-themed, world-class attraction is one of the largest seahorse exhibits in Australia.

Little Blue Penguins are the smallest of the penguin species, and you can watch them waddle, dive, swim & play on land and in the water. You can also go down a level to see them under the water.

The Coastal Wreck exhibit has a huge variety of animals found in Australia's coastal waters, including Lionfish, Eels and brightly coloured tropical fish swimming amongst the hard and soft corals.

You can watch the playful antics of the seals at Seal Island. The daily presentation is entertaining and educational; you'll learn about their habitat, behaviours and how to keep them safe from plastic that ends up in our oceans. At Lower Seal Island, you can get a closer look at their agility and natural behaviours underwater.

In the Tidal Touchpool area, you will see a selection of rays gliding around. Then, you can roll up your sleeves and touch sea stars and sea cucumbers in the interactive exhibit while learning from the aquarium's education team.

In the Jellyfish Kingdom, you can marvel at these ancient creatures whose existence predates even the dinosaurs. Admire the delicate jellyfish and their graceful movements in the coloured lights in this fascinating exhibit.

SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast has over ten million visitors a year, and it is committed to protecting Australia's unique aquatic animals and their habitats. It raises awareness of marine conservation issues, builds support for conservation projects, and inspires more people worldwide to care.
