Nigretta Falls ~ The Grampians

Nigretta Falls

Nigretta Falls is formed by the Wannon River cascading 25 metres down the rocky cliff. There is a viewing area at the top and a short walk down a set of steps to the base of the falls. Nigretta Falls is located 16 kilometres west of Hamilton in the Southern Grampians.

Several falls cascade over the rhyolitic volcanic rock outcrops and drop into a deep pool at the base of the falls. The Wannon River then continues flowing downstream to Wannon Falls.

Nigretta Falls is located in the Nigretta Falls Scenic Reserve, with plenty of parking, toilets, picnic shelters and BBQs.

The upper viewing platform is only a few metres from the carpark and offers fantastic views of Nigretta Falls.

You can then walk down a set of stairs to the base of Nigretta Falls, where you have lovely views of the whole waterfall. At the top of the stairs is an information board showing the flora you can observe in the region.

Directions to Nigretta Falls Carpark

From Hamilton, follow the Glenelg Highway (B160) for 15.7 kilometres. Then turn right onto Nigretta Road and drive 7.1 kilometres. Turn left onto Wannon-Nigretta Falls Road, and you will see the signpost for Nigretta Falls. Travel along the Nigretta Falls Access Road for 600 metres, and you will reach the carpark.
