Hopetoun Falls
Hopetoun Falls in The Great Otway National Park is a lovely 30-metre waterfall in a beautiful fern-filled gully along the Aire River. You can see the top of the falls at the lookout a few metres from the carpark.
The track to the base of the falls takes you deep into the valley, where towering rainforest trees and lush green ferns surround you.
The Walk -1 kilometre - 30 Minutes - 200 stairs
This walk starts from the Hopetoun Falls carpark. Approximately 30 metres from the carpark, you will reach a lookout from which you can view the top of the falls through the trees.
Continue along the well-maintained path down 200 steps through the lush green rainforest. The steps can be wet and slippery, so use the handrail to descend carefully. After descending the steps, duck under a fallen tree, and you will reach the boardwalk section that meanders alongside the Aire River.
Follow the boardwalk until you reach the large viewing area at the base of Hopetoun Falls. This is a great spot to sit and enjoy these stunning falls and the peace and tranquillity of the rainforest.
