Granite Island ~ Kaiki Trail

Updated: May 2

Granite Island

The Kaiki trail on Granite Island in South Australia is a nice, easy circuit with several lookouts with stunning views over Victor Harbor and the Bluff. You will also see spectacular granite boulders, including Umbrella Rock.

We start by walking 650 metres across the Causeway onto Granite Island; alternatively, you can take the horse-drawn tram onto the Island.

The Walk - 2.9 Kilometre Circuit - 1 Hour - Easy

The Kaiki trail is a circuit around Granite Island on a well-formed track with some wooden steps.

After walking across the causeway, we wander clockwise around the island, past the cafe and jetty. Then, we climb the wooden steps to see amazing views of the coastline.

The track is well-marked and easy to follow; several parts of the way are close to the cliff edges, so care should be taken here.

We continue around the circuit, enjoying views over the Bluff until we reach Umbrella Rock. After Umbrella Rock, it is a short downhill stroll back to the causeway.
