Gibson Steps
Gibson Steps are 86 rocky steps carved into the sheer sandstone cliffs hundreds of years ago. They lead down to a beautiful beach where you can see the rock stacks called Gog & Magog.
This is a popular stop along the Great Ocean Road. There is a small carpark where you can see Gog and Magog from the viewing platform. Then, take the steps down to the beach below.
The Walk - 86 Steps - 30 Minutes - Moderate
This short walk starts at the Gibson Steps carpark, which can be closed due to high tides or inclement weather. A gate near the top of the steps will be locked when the conditions are not suitable.
Wander down and view Gog and Magog, two impressive limestone sea stacks, from the viewing platform. Then, continue down the steep rock steps to a stunning beach, where you can get closer to the sea stacks.
Walk from the Twelve Apostles Visitor Centre
You can also park in the Twelve Apostles car park and walk one 1-kilometre along the rugged cliffs to Gibson Steps. As you wander, enjoy the views of the vertical coastal cliffs and the stunning coastline.
