Tasmania has so many wonderful waterfalls. Here are our Favourite Top 10 Family-Friendly Waterfalls. These waterfalls are a short, easy walk on a well-maintained path and have a safe viewing area, so the whole family can relax and enjoy the falls.

Guide Falls ~ Tasmania.

This lovely waterfall is very easy to access and is located near Wynyard in Tasmania. The Guide River cascades 25 metres over an impressive basalt rock face. You can view the falls from the upper viewing platform or from the base.

Waratah Falls ~ Tasmania.

Waratah Falls is a wonderful waterfall located right in the middle of the town of Waratah. The Waratah River forms a large lake in the town centre and then plunges over the top of a basalt cliff to form Waratah Falls.

Lilydale Falls ~ Tasmania.

Lilydale Falls is two waterfalls formed along the Second River, the waterfalls are located in the Lilydale Falls Reserve. The first waterfall falls approx. 10 metres into the rocky creek below, the second waterfall is slightly smaller at 8 metres.

Pencil Pine Falls ~ Tasmania.

Pencil Pine Falls is located on Cradle Mountain. The Pencil Pine River cascades 10 metres over a rocky outcrop, creating the Falls. You can view them from the top by wandering along the Rainforest Walk, which starts behind the Ranger Station.

Dip Falls ~ Tasmania.

Dip Falls is a beautiful waterfall with a two-tiered structure and unique rock formations situated in the Dip River Forest Reserve near Mawbanna in the Northwest. The Dip River cascades 40 metres over a wide section of hexagonal basalt lava.

St Columba Falls ~ Tasmania.

St Columba Falls is one of Tasmania’s tallest permanent waterfalls. Water from the George River plunges 90 metres over the rocky granite ledges. It is located in the Columba Falls State Reserve at Pyengana.

Russell Falls ~ Tasmania.

Russell Falls in the Mt Field National Park is one of the most popular and visited Waterfalls in Tasmania, and as you stand on the viewing platform gazing up at this wonderful waterfall, you will see why.

Nelson Falls ~ Tasmania.

Nelson Falls is a stunning waterfall along the Lyell Highway in the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, approx. 30 kilometres from Queenstown. The water cascades 30 metres down the tiered black rocks into the Nelson River.

1.4 kilometre walk - 45 minutes

Liffey Falls ~ Tasmania.

Liffey Falls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Tasmania and is located in the Liffey Falls State Reserve. The Liffey River flows through dense, cool-climate rainforests of myrtle, sassafras, and leatherwood in the Great Western Tiers mountain range.

Myrtle Gully Falls ~ Tasmania.

Myrtle Gully Falls are behind the Cascade Brewery in the foothills of Kunanyi/Mt Wellington. They are a series of cascades, with the top tier dropping 4 metres. A lovely small bridge along the Myrtle Gully Track is a great spot to view the falls.
