Zeehan - Tasmania

Zeehan is a small town in the Northwest of Tasmania, hidden in a valley surrounded by stunning hills and lush rainforest. It has a rich mining history and was once known as Silver City when the most significant mining boom occurred in the late 1800s.

Today, Zeehan attracts geologists and rock collectors from around the world due to its unique geological structures. It is 180 kilometres from Devonport and 300 kilometres West of Hobart.

In the centre of town, the West Coast Heritage Centre has excellent indoor and outdoor displays of the area's pioneering and mining past. It also houses one of the finest collections of minerals in the world.

On the outskirts of town, you can explore the Spray Tunnel, a 100-metre abandoned railway tunnel you can walk or ride through.

A short drive from Zeehan, you can discover Montezuma Falls, an 8-kilometre walk that will get you to the base of one of the highest waterfalls in Tasmania.
