Scottsdale - Tasmania
Scottsdale, in the northeast of Tasmania, is surrounded by lush green fields and blue mountains. Its rich soil and mild climate are ideal for farming and forestry. Scottsdale is located 63 kilometres from Launceston and 255 kilometres from Hobart. Around the town, there is a great selection of cafes, pubs, art galleries, and shops to browse in.
You can visit the Scottsdale Military Museum and see a Vietnam-era Iroquois helicopter, also known as a “Huey.” Australian troops used these helicopters extensively during the Vietnam War.
North East Park, on the outskirts of town, is a popular camping spot. It has picnic facilities, BBQs, and showers in a picturesque lakeside setting.
A short drive from Scottsdale is the Sideling Lookout; here, you can enjoy stunning views over Scottsdale and Mount Stronach.
You can visit Bridestowe Lavender Estate, one of the world's largest lavender oil producers, or explore the Lilydale Falls Reserve, which has two lovely waterfalls.
Further afield, you can explore and discover Mt Paris Dam and the Little Blue Lake.

Sideling Lookout
Located alongside an elevated section of the Tasman Highway between Launceston and Scottsdale, the Sideling Lookout provides beautiful views of the surrounding hills, farming land and the coast.
Bridestowe Lavender Estate
Bridestowe Lavender Estate is one of the world's largest lavender oil producers. You can visit the farm and cafe all year, but the best time to see the lavender in full bloom is from December to early February; click here for the website.
Lilydale Falls is a pair of waterfalls formed as the Second River cascades over rocks. They are located in the Lilydale Falls Reserve. The short walk to see the falls is along an easy track that follows the river through the rainforest.
Mt Paris Dam
The Cascade River runs through the old pillar-and-slab dam at Mt Paris Dam. Surrounded by ferns, the forest is slowly reclaiming this area. It is a lovely spot to wander around and through the dam walls and enjoy the cool, lush surroundings.
Little Blue Lake
The Little Blue Lake viewing area is only a few metres off the road between Derby and Gladstone. It was originally a mine hole, and now the lake reflects a vivid aqua blue from the minerals at the base of the lake.
