Updated: May 3

Corinna - Tasmania

Corinna, in the Northwest of Tasmania, was once a thriving historic mining town. Now, it’s a wonderful wilderness retreat on the banks of the beautiful Pieman River, surrounded by pristine rainforest. Enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful, pristine area.

It is located 250 kilometres West of Launceston and 170 kilometres from Devonport, and access is by the "Fatman Barge".

"The Fatman” barge allows vehicles to travel from north or south across the Pieman River. It is the only cable-driven vehicular barge in Tasmania and has vehicle weight and length restrictions. - Click Here for Details.

The Tarkine Hotel offers coffee, meals, and a selection of Tasmanian Beers and Wines; it also has a small general store.

If you want to stay at Corinna, there are a range of options, from the original cottages to the new wilderness retreats or the lovely camping area.

For more information, please visit the Corinna Wilderness Experience website.

You can cruise or kayak on the Pieman River, visit Lovers Falls, or wander along one of the many walking trails.
