Updated: Jul 28

Deloraine - Tasmania

Deloraine is a lovely riverside town set in the foothills of the Great Western Tiers mountain range. The Meander River flows through the town, and the lovely parks and gardens are perfect for picnics, relaxing, watching the ducks, and, if you are lucky, platypus spotting.

The Meander Riverside walk is a lovely 45-minute walk along the banks of the river. You will cross over two suspension bridges and see a selection of sculptures from the Great Western Tiers Sculpture trail along the walk.

It also incorporates the Kooparoona Niara Cultural Trail, where you can learn about the local indigenous culture and see a traditional stone yarning circle.

Deloraine’s historic streets feature many Georgian and Victorian buildings, as well as an abundance of art and craft galleries, antique stores, bakeries, and cafes.

Whilst wandering the streets of Deloraine you will see many interesting sculptures which are part of the Streetscape Sculpture project. The sculptures are unique and vary greatly in style from historic to comedic.
