Cobb & Co Stagecoach Experience

Updated: May 2

Cobb & Co Stagecoach Ride

This Experience includes a 45-minute ride aboard the Cobb and Co Stagecoach, a delicious outback “Smoko”, a classic Australian bush movie in the old theatre and an Old Time Tent Show.

The Cobb and Co Experience runs Monday through Friday from April to October and takes four hours. The stagecoach leaves from the Cobb and Co Courtyard behind the Station Store.

We start the day with the Stagecoach Experience. We admire the horses and take a photo with Buck the Blue Heeler before putting on our headphones and boarding the restored stagecoach.

The horses then set off at a nice leisurely pace around town before heading out along a stretch of the original Longreach-Windorah mail route. The Driver provides interesting and informative commentary along the way.

After the stagecoaches are turned around, it’s time to hang on to your hats as the horses gallop along the bush track. This is the only place in Australia where you can gallop in a stagecoach, and it's a lot of fun!

The ride back through Longreach is more leisurely. We head to the Cobb and Co Courtyard, where we disembark in time for “Smoko.”

We enjoy “Smoko,” a lovely morning tea of Tea, coffee, Scones, Jam, and Cream in the Welcome Home tearoom.'

Then it's time for an old-time bush movie in the Outback Theatre, with sling-back canvas seats and popcorn. We saw Smilie Gets a Gun, a PG-rated movie from 1958.

After the movie, we went back to the Cobb and Co Courtyard for the

Old Time Tent Show. Where we were entertained with quirky outback humour and animal antics. No filming is allowed during the show, so there are a few shots before and after.

Hold on to your hat for the only stagecoach gallop in Australia! This tour is a lot of fun and an amazing outback experience.
