Clematis Falls
Clematis Falls is a lovely seasonal waterfall that flows 25 metres over the sheer rock cliff face into a shallow pool below. It is an easy walk from Halls Gap, near the Recreation Reserve.
The Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park is 260 kilometres west of Melbourne and has fantastic hiking trails, beautiful waterfalls, superb lookouts and a large variety of birds and wildlife.
The Grampians are five stunning sandstone ridges that run north to south. On the eastern side, they have steep and rugged slopes, while on the west side, they have gentler slopes.
The Walk - 2.4 kilometres - 1 Hour - Medium
The walk starts near the Halls Gap Recreation Reserve, a great spot to watch the kangaroos grazing on the oval. The wide dirt track starts gently meandering uphill through the tall open forest. If you do this walk in Spring, there are lovely wildflowers along the edge of the track.
The track becomes narrower as you cross several rocky sections alongside the cliffs. You will see several signs on the track, so you know you are heading in the right direction. After climbing up a couple of rocky steps, you will see Clematis Falls.
Clematis Falls is a seasonal waterfall best seen in winter and spring or after significant rainfall in the area. Reaching the base of the falls by clambering over a few large rocks is relatively easy.
