Adventure Bay on Bruny Island - Tasmania
Adventure Bay is a large eastern-facing bay on South Bruny. It is one of the main townships and has a General Store and Caravan Park.
Adventure Bay Beach is a popular spot for swimming as it is one of the most sheltered beaches on the island. Adventure Bay got its name from Captain Tobias Furneaux’s ship ‘The Adventure’ in 1773.
Your best chance to spot a White Wallaby is at Adventure Bay in the late afternoon or early morning. White wallabies are Bennett's wallabies with a rare genetic mutation that gives them their white fur & pink eyes, ears & nose.
Directions to Bruny Island
The only way to access Bruny Island is by ferry. The ferry departs from Kettering on the mainland, 40 minutes south of Hobart.
The ferry trip takes 20 minutes, and you have excellent views of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel during the ride. It is a vehicle ferry so that you can drive your car or motorhome onto Bruny Island.
